Movies at the Museum: Fort Apache

Our new exhibit, The Cinematic West: The Art That Made the Movies, explores how the artwork of Charles Russell and Frederic Remington influenced early directors of Western film. One of the best known Western film directors was John Ford. Throughout his career, Ford looked to both artists and their ability to create stories across canvas. Specifically, Ford wanted to capture the light, color, and action of Remington and Russell’s artworks. Join us for a summer’s Movies @ the Museum series as we dive into Ford’s Cavalry Trilogy.
