Artist In Process | Jacob Lovett

Though Frederic Remington and Charles Russell are known today as fine artists, both worked as illustrators throughout their careers. Our current exhibition, Remington and Russell in Black and White, features an array of both artists’ original greyscale works paired with their counterparts printed in magazines and books. In honor of FWADA’s Fall Gallery Night, the museum has invited local artist Jacob Lovett to paint in our galleries.

Visitors can stop by between 1:00pm – 3:00pm to see the artist in process as he paints a black & white contemporary western composition. Then explore the museum and enjoy the many black and white artworks by Remington and Russell on display in our current exhibition.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jacob Lovett is an American artist most notably known for his contemporary western oil paintings. Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Lovett’s work is heavily influenced by the western lifestyle and culture that has surrounded him since he was a kid.

The driving force behind his craft takes place through first hand experiences of the people, places and moments that you see throughout his work. The process of traveling to these scenic destinations and learning about the people and places that inhabit them enables him to build a deeper understanding and connection between himself and his subject matter while simultaneously providing a platform to share their stories on canvas.

Since picking up a paintbrush back in 2018 Lovett has had numerous group and solo shows throughout the country. Lovett has been recognized in Southwest Art Magazine‘s 21 Under 31 Young Artists To Watch and has been featured in publications such as Cowgirl Magazine, Fort Worth Magazine, Western Art and Architecture, NBC 5 and has collaborated with brands such as Tecovas and Sendero Provisions.

Today, Lovett is represented by Commerce Gallery in Lockhart, Texas where he continues to showcase his signature “Western Windows” stylized paintings; using old masters techniques in a minimalistic approach to achieve aesthetically clean, yet strikingly realistic compositions.
